Call for Special Issue Submissions: Caregiving in Families of Adults with Disabilities
The Disabilities journal invites submissions for a Special Issue on “Caregiving in Families of Adults with Disabilities” in five priority areas: (1) demographic patterns in family caregiving (2) roles and relationships in family caregiving; (3) impacts on family caregiver well-being; (4) family support policies; and (5) bridging research, policy, and practice in aging and disability caregiving. Family caregivers are the foundation of support systems for adults with disabilities across the life course. As longevity increases and the aging population grows throughout the world, family members are assuming expanded and increasingly complex caregiving roles, including medical, therapeutic, and technology-related tasks. Caregivers could include parents, siblings, spouses, extended family members, and individuals with disabilities who provide care to other family members. The Special Issue welcomes a broad range of contributions, including intervention studies, protocols, reviews, measurement, original qualitative and quantitative research, humanities and arts, social sciences, and theoretical/conceptual models. We encourage articles that explore the lived experiences and heterogeneity of family caregiving and address the economic, social, and psychological factors and outcomes for adults with disabilities and their families across the life course.

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. Disabilities is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
